Most Underrated Anime

Anime is a large and popular genre, with a dedicated fan base. Yet, having a large fan base does not mean that every show will get the recognition or reviews it deserves. There are quite a few anime that get lost and forgotten about, with only a niche set of fans who remember them and try to get others to view them. Most Underrated Anime.

Here is a list of anime that needs more recognition.
10.Berserk
Most Underrated Anime

Berserk was a well-known manga, so you might find it strange to be on this list, but while the manga is prominent, the anime doesn't get enough credit. The 25-episode series covered the 'Golden Age' story arc of the manga, a relatively short arc. The manga and anime are set in a dark medieval fantasy world and center on the characters of Guts, a loner swordsman haunted by literal demons, and Griffith, who leads a mercenary band.

The animation is well done, and they stick to the source material. It's a dark, intense series with some amazing action, and would make for a great live action film. The fans would love more seasons but are also okay with simply reading the manga. Either way, this is an anime you should check out because, if you like it, there's a lot more manga to keep you going.

9.Angels of Death

Most Underrated Anime

Rachel Gardner wishes only to die. It's the main plot of the anime Angels of Death, and a unique one. Rachel wakes up in a basement with a murderer, and together they attempt to escape the building, but only if Zach (the murderer) promises to kill her when they get out. But they keep going up, running into people who seem familiar to Rachel, but she doesn't know why. They must fight a new enemy on each floor to escape. Will Rachel get her wish?

The plot is intriguing and a unique concept that keeps you hooked on the show. Each reveal adds more questions, and every answer leads to more revelations. The eccentric characters work well together as a cast, and the great voice actors have excellent chemistry. Unfortunately, this anime is sometimes overlooked, even though the plot is unique and grabbing.

8.Towa no Quon

Most Underrated Anime

Living amongst the rest of humanity, there is a small number of people known as "Attractors" that possess strange powers. Led by the ever-optimistic Quon Mitsuchi, the Attractors take on intense fights against Custos's WTOC in the hopes of protecting the existence of their kind.

7.Darker than Black
Most Underrated Anime

Darker Than Black is one of the finest mystery, science fiction, and thriller anime shows ever created. Honestly, it's a shame that the series never got much attention from fans despite being a masterpiece. The series comes from the mind of Tensai Okamura, who worked on legendary anime like Cowboy Bebop, Sword Art Online, Soul Eater, and The Seven Deadly Sins.

The story of Darker Than Black revolves around the mysterious "Hell's Gate" that suddenly appears in Tokyo. Several Psychics with supernatural powers try to solve the mystery of the gate. Most Underrated Anime

Mecha might not be the most popular anime category, yet it consists of some of the forgotten masterpieces, and Neon Genesis Evangelion is one of them. Most Underrated Anime

To the casual eye, the amnesiac bounty hunter Wu Liuqi looks quite intimidating. With his deadly telekinetic scissor techniques and his ability to seamlessly transform into anything, one would not expect his modest demeanor. In fact, Wu is quite terrible at his job. Often times the freelancer can be found botching an asspsassination or targeting the wrong person. While his failures could be due to his subpar skills, it usually boils down to him being a normal kid, with a heart unsuited for his line of work.

Accompanied by his feathered friend Dai Bo, Wu is on a simple quest to regain his memories. Although his inconspicuous day job as a hairdresser and his after-hours occupation are simply a means for him to repay debt, his various ventures seem to intertwine with his pursuit to recover his lost past.

4.Re.Life
Most Underrated Anime

The slice-of-life anime ReLIFE is like the 2009 movie 17 Again, featuring a grown man who gets a chance to relive his high school life with the benefit of an adult's maturity and knowledge. Protagonist Arata Kaizaki feels lost in his adult life, but going back to high school might fix that.

Arata hopes that reliving his teen years will help him find happiness and a purpose in life, but he must keep his true nature a secret. He will soon befriend his classmates, but some of them have secrets, too, and they might already be privy to Aratra's own secret about his age.

3.Tokyo 24th Ward

Most Underrated Anime

Sci-fi anime fans who enjoyed Ghost in the Shell and Studio Trigger's Cyberpunk: Edgerunners are encouraged to try Tokyo 24th Ward next. This sci-fi anime fits a lot of classic cyberpunk themes into just 12 episodes, from state surveillance and "fight the power" to hackers and graffiti.

Tokyo's high-tech 24th ward is mired in controversy over the use of state surveillance systems for security's sake, and protagonist Aoi Shuta isn't sure which side to take. Then, he and his two friends get visions of the future from a dead girl, leading to tense, action-packed adventures that will finally lead to the tragic truth.

3.Trapped in a Dating Sim

Most Underrated Anime

The isekai subgenre is highly saturated, but even discerning fans should try Trapped in a Dating Sim. This anime came out in 2022, a highly competitive year for anime, and it helped prove that isekai can be fairly formulaic but still highly entertaining.

The antihero Leon Bartfort got isekai'd into a wacky otome game world that blended high school romance with giant robots, and it's truly a woman's world. Iori's new life is a whirlwind of exotic fish, drunken ragers, cheating on exams, outrageous pranks, and trying to figure out his love life for once. He and the dandere Aina Yoshiwara might be a couple in the making, but not if they're too drunk to realize it.
