The first promotional video and teaser image for the television anime adaptation of Honobonoru500 and Nama's The Weakest Tamer Began a Journey to Pick Up Trash (Saijaku Tamer wa Gomihiroi no Tabi o Hajimemashita) light novel series were released on Wednesday. The anime's cast, crew, and 2024 release date are all revealed in the trailer, along with Aina Suzuki's "Hate no Nai Tabi" (An Endless Journey), the show's opening theme song.
In the anime, Aina Suzuki plays the lead character Ivy, while Mutsumi Tamura plays the slime Sora. Both actors reprise their parts from a previous drama CD in the series.
While Naoki Horiuchi (episode director for Naruto Shippden, Vivy -Fluorite Eye's Song, The Demon Girl Next Door) is in charge of directing the anime at Studio Massket, Shigeyasu Yamauchi (Boys Over Flowers, Casshern Sins, Dream Eater Merry) is listed as the project's supervising director. The series' composition is under the direction of Katsuhiko Takayama (Looking Up at the Half Moon, ef: a tale of memories, Ga-Rei: Zero). The designers of the characters are Yuki Ikeda and Feng Cheng Hu. The soundtrack is being written by Kujira Yumemi (In the Land of Leadale, Kubo Won't Let Me Be Invisible). The composer of the music is Lantis.
Both the manga adaptation and the novel series were licensed by Seven Seas Entertainment, which summarizes the plot as follows:
Ivy, who is young, never has a good day. Despite having a few memories of her previous existence, she was reborn into an RPG-style world as the weakest rank and class. Even her parents don't want to interact with her because she is a no-star Tamer, and she quickly learns that she must fend for herself. She learns how to survive off the land and make the most of other people's leftovers. But everything changes for them both when Ivy succeeds to tame Sora, a humble slime. This weak little creature has a particular quality, and Ivy's care will bring out the best in both of them.
