The Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse movie will have a manga spinoff about Doc Ock in a schoolgirl's body.

The next Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse movie will have a spinoff manga named Spider-Man: Octopus Girl, featuring writing and art from the team behind the My Hero Academia: Vigilantes manga, Hideyuki Furuhashi and Betten Court. This was revealed on Tuesday by Shueisha and Marvel Entertainment. On June 20, the manga will debut in Shueisha's Shonen Jump+ manga app.

The tale of the manga starts when well-known antagonist Doctor Octopus passes away. He finds himself in the body of Japanese middle schooler Otoha Okutamiya when he awakens.

The 2018 computer-generated animation film Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse has a sequel, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. The movie will debut on June 2 in the US and on June 16 in Japan. LiSA sings "REALiZE" as the film's theme song in the Japanese dub.

In 2018, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse won an Oscar. The filmmakers of the movie, Bob Persichetti, Peter Ramsey, and Rodney Rothman, discussed how anime influenced the visual style of the movie. The Japanese animators for the movie also discussed their process in the magazine CG World. Producer Phil Lord has hinted that a reference to Toei's Spider-Man may appear in the sequel.
