One Piece Day Celebration scheduled for July 21 and 22

2-day event has live global stream, One Piece Film Red screening, activities

The return of "One Piece Day," a two-day celebration honoring the anniversary of the release of Eiichiro Oda's One Piece manga, was announced on Monday by Bandai Namco Entertainment, Shueisha, and Toei Animation. The event will be broadcast live on YouTube around the world on July 21 and 22 from the Tokyo Big Sight convention venue.

On the first day of the event, a "cheering" screening of the anime One Piece Film Red will be presented, during which yelling and cheering are permitted. On the second day, there will be a stage event with cast members, announcements on One Piece products, and other events.
Although the manga originally started on July 19, 1997, it was touted as launching on July 22, and as of 2017, the Japan Anniversary Association has recognized July 22 as "One Piece Day," celebrating the anniversary of the manga's debut. The previous year's One Piece Day took place on July 22–23 with a live YouTube feed.
